The METCO Academic Support Tutor provides academic assistance for K-12 students in the Swmpscott METCO Program by implementing strategies to guide students in attaining independent academic success. The Tutor supports students in the classroom daily and provides after-school tutoring four days per week.This role requires the collection and tracking of student data in order to monitor student progress. The METCO Academic Support Tutor fosters positive relationships, and collaborates with Boston resident families and Swampscott faculty to build strong home-school connections.
Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday 9:00 am – 5:00 pm and Friday from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm
Required qualifications: • Bachelor Degree in Education or equivalent experience • Experience working with urban youth and multicultural families • Excellent verbal and written skills • Demonstrated strong communication and collaboration practices • Establish, implement and follow through with clearly defined boundaries and expectations of • Demonstrated small group student management Preferred qualifications: • Degree in Social Work or Psychology • Bilingual in Cape Verdean and/or Spanish • Classroom experience • Background working with social-emotional needs of children and teens • Knowledge of Massachusetts Curriculum Framework |
