SWIFT ACADEMIC COORDINATOR

We are looking for a tutor to serve as the SWIFT academic coordinator at Swampscott High School. SWIFT is a ‘bridge’ program designed to provide support for students returning to school after a long-term absence such as psychiatric hospitalization, medical issues, or a concussion. The SWIFT academic coordinator provides academic and organizational support to students within the program to help them re-integrate into school. The academic coordinator works closely with a school psychologist to develop individualized plans according to each student’s unique needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated interest in teaching students struggling with a complex array of challenges
Compassionate and empathetic to students undergoing difficult life events
Technological expertise required: experience working with Google Classroom / G-Suite Apps
Knowledge and experience with executive function coaching and scaffolding preferred
Such additional qualifications as Swampscott High School may find appropriate and acceptable

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Able to create and maintain a welcoming, positive, and structured classroom climate with high expectations for each student.
Develops and implements the academic component of the overall case management plan for each student in SWIFT.
Maintains a system for tracking incomplete work and progress for students in SWIFT.
Works intensively with the Clinical Coordinator to collaboratively support the holistic mental health needs of the student
Proactively communicates with teacher colleagues and school administrators regarding the academic program, requirements, progress, and status of each student in SWIFT.
