The Swampscott Public School District is seeking substitute school nurses to provide coverage of school health office when permanent nursing staff are unavailable.
PRIMARY ROLE: To provide primary health and emergency care to student’s pre-K through grade 12, promote wellness and serve as a resource for health concerns in the school setting. This may or may not be in the absence of the full-time school nurse.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers medications and treatments as ordered.
- Provides care for student and staff illness and accidents.
- Administers care based on individual health care plans and individual emergency care plans. 4. Serves as liaison between the home and the school regarding student health concerns.
- Documents all encounters in the Electronic Health Record.
- Follows communicable disease control procedures and informs administration and/or parents regarding school exclusion and readmission.
