TitleSpecial Education Teacher - Grades K-6 - 1.0 FTE - Nahant
Posting ID413
Description

You are invited to apply for a full time teaching position at the Johnson Elementary School in Nahant, Mass.

With one class per grade and a population of around 140 students, our District offers the opportunity for you to get to know students, families, and staff members personally. In addition, you will work closely with District leadership on programmatic and scheduling decisions.

Our school is a modern facility, with full, operable windows that look out to the ocean and bring in lots of natural light and fresh air. The classroom where the Special Education teacher works is a full-sized classroom space, with a suite of dedicated iMacs, a reading table, cooperative learning spaces, bookshelves, whiteboards, and a full compliment of teaching materials for students in grades K-6.

The current academic caseload is modest in size, and is comprised of typical students who have an Individual Education Program. We implement a full inclusion model, with pull-out services delivered as needed. Three full-time paraprofessionals support student learning goals, as does a full-time Speech Pathologist, and part time Counselor, and COTA.

Our Special Education Coordinator assembles the IEPs, with input from Special Education staff (see below for details), and our Special Education Administrative Assistant handles scheduling and IEP distribution.

In addition to a competitive compensation package, Nahant offers full-time employees medical benefits through Blue Cross, Blue Shield, and dental through Altus.

Best of all, employees of the Town of Nahant are eligible for a Nahant Parking Sticker, valid at Nahant beaches!

Please note : This position is located in the Nahant School District (not Swampscott). Any questions should be directed to the contact information below, and not Swampscott HR.  thank you
