SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER – SOCIAL EMOTIONAL AND EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING - SWAMPSCOTT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

 

Special Education Teacher- Elementary, Social Emotional, and Executive Functioning

for 5-7 students in full inclusion programming in grades 1-4

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s level required
  • 3 years experience
  • Moderate Disabilities DESE certification in PreK-8

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete evaluations, write IEPs, progress reports
  • Provide direct instruction in grade-level academics, social-emotional skills, executive functioning skills and accommodations to students with emotional disabilities 
  • Utilize student interest and thematic unit planning to support academic curriculum
  • Implement behavior support plans and collect data to inform progress and interventions
  • Model and coach support staff for implementation of accommodations, behavior support plans, reinforcement breaks
  • Knowledge of Social Thinking Curriculums, Zones of Regulation 
  • Understanding of the Principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis
  • Facilitate social skills groups 
  • Facilitate and supervise student breaks and facilitate earned reinforcement such as games, playtime, etc. 
  • Consult with specialists including the school psychologist, clinical psychologist, and BCBA
  • Communication with families

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

This position may require long periods of standing, walking, and sitting; talking or hearing in person and by telephone; using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reaching with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The

individual may be exposed to ultraviolet lights as are found in computer monitors and copying equipment. The individual may be exposed to various hazards in the building. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of
