Tutor: Health 

 

Approximately six hours per day - School Days Only

 

Reports to Building Principal: 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide instructional support and implement accommodations per IEP and/or Individual Health Care Plan for student(s) with disabilities under the direction of a special education teacher and/or School Nurse in an inclusion setting

  • Provide assistance with work completion and accessing the general education curriculum
  • Candidate may also be asked to participate in training regarding Curriculum Standards or other required training per the Swampscott Public Schools District. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor or trained as an EMT certification preferred
  • Must have at least 2 excellent references
  • Must pass all required screenings, including CORI, SAFIS fingerprinting, and I-9 eligibility to work in the U.S.
  • Experience in working with children, preferably within an educational setting
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken
  • Must be physically capable of and willing to engage in providing levels of support which may include modeling, coaching, and verbal, visual and/or physical prompts required to meet the student’s individual needs as stated in an IEP
  • Other qualifications will vary depending on the specific needs of the assigned student.

Physical Requirements: 

 

This position may require long periods of standing, walking, and sitting; talking or hearing in person and by telephone; using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reaching with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The individual may be exposed to ultraviolet lights as are found in computer monitors and copying equipment. The individual may be exposed to various hazards in the building.
