SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - LANGUAGE-BASED DISABILITIES - HIGH SCHOOL

 

JOB DESCRIPTION: 

 

• Complete evaluations, write IEPs, progress reports
• Provide specialized instruction and accommodations to students with learning disabilities in reading, writing and mathematics
• Responsible for teaching ELA  and Reading to students with dyslexia in High School in a substantially separate setting
• Knowledge of utilizing structured, direct, sequential, systematic, and multi-sensory instruction to teach decoding/encoding and phonemic awareness and reading comprehension
• Explicit instruction in content-relevant vocabulary
• Team-based program with Speech and Language Therapist 
• Knowledge of Assistive Technology
• Knowledge of teaching executive functioning skills
• Communication with families

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

• Master’s level required
• 3 years experience minimum
• Moderate Disabilities DESE certification in required grade level
• Orton Gillingham instruction, Wilson Reading Program certification required
