SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER - LANGUAGE-BASED DISABILITIES - HIGH SCHOOL
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Complete evaluations, write IEPs, progress reports
- Provide specialized instruction and accommodations to students with learning disabilities in reading, writing and mathematics
- Responsible for teaching ELA and Reading to students with dyslexia in High School in a substantially separate setting
- Knowledge of utilizing structured, direct, sequential, systematic, and multi-sensory instruction to teach decoding/encoding and phonemic awareness and reading comprehension
- Explicit instruction in content-relevant vocabulary
- Team-based program with Speech and Language Therapist
- Knowledge of Assistive Technology
- Knowledge of teaching executive functioning skills
- Communication with families
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s level required
- 3 years experience minimum
- Moderate Disabilities DESE certification in required grade level
- Orton Gillingham instruction, Wilson Reading Program certification required
